Manage Additional Instances and Data Studio Licenses

Customers can now create additional DMP instances and assign data studio licenses through the self service UI in the DMP application. This self service functionality is only available to admin users in the organization.

Create Additional Instances

This only applies to customers that have purchased additional instances. If you are not sure, please contact your Customer Support team. Here are the steps to create an additional instance

  • Admin user can navigate to Settings (top-right icon) -> Manage Orgs.
  • Admin can view the details about the instance also referred to as the parent instance.
  • The UI will also display the number of additional instances created and available.
  • To create a new instance, click on Add Instance
  • You will be prompted to specify a name for the organization. The organization name needs to be unique and can be 100 characters in length. For best practice, use a naming convention that will help you organize your instances. You can include your brand name and geo information in the name.
  • Click on save. You will receive a confirmation message that the instance has been successfully created.

Notes:

  • The additional instance will have the same set of licenses (editions and add-ons) as the parent instance.
  • Any new licenses (add-ons) applied to the parent instance will be applied to all the child instances.
  • Certain usage information such as Data Collection Events (DCEs), number of segments and number of activation partners is calculated across all your instances i.e. parent and children.
  • The admin user creating the additional instance is automatically added as an admin in the additional instance.
  • You may be required to log out and log back in to see the instance in the top right (Instance Switcher)
  • The number of additional instances you can create is governed by the quantity of additional instances you have purchased. To purchase additional instances, please contact your AE or Customer Support team.
  • Admin in the parent instance can not disable or deactivate any child instances after they have been created. For any requests, please reach out to the Customer Support team.
