The KUID is the unique identifier of users in Salesforce Audience Studio. It is an abbreviation for Krux User ID.
In cookie-based environments the KUID is always an 8-character ID with uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. For active users, the life of a cookie is 180 days. If a cookie is inactive for 90 days, it will be deleted from the Audience Studio instance. This is based on a default 90 day look back. Activity can be received from the websites (pixel.gif), media impression (ad_impression.gif or click_track.gif) or event (event.gif)
Examples are based on a default 90 day look back:
- A user visits an Audience Studio client website on day 1 and receives cookie1 with a KUID. If the user is seen by another Audience Studio tag (website visit, media, event, etc.) on day 79, then cookie1 and associated KUID will persist
- A user visits an Audience Studio client website on day 1 and receives cookie1 with a KUID. If the user is seen by another Audience Studio tag (website visit, media, event, etc.) on day 95, the user will be given a new KUID, cookie2, on day 95
- A user visits an Audience Studio client website on day 1 and receives cookie1 with a KUID. Cookie1's consent flags have been disabled on day 10; all consent flags are 0. Client website will no longer see activity from Cookie1. Cookie1 will age out in 90 days
- A user visits two different Audience Studio client sites, ClientA website A and ClientB websiteB and receives cookie1 with a KUID. cookie1 visits websiteA on day1 and day95. However, cookie1 visits websiteC on day 85. cookie1 will persist past 90 days
In cookie-less environments we use the Android AdID, the Apple IDFA, OTT device ID or a proprietary hashed device ID, e.g. in Safari.
For some partners that require an exclusively lowercase ID, we additionally offer a lowercase-only 9-character ID called "user".
Please ask the Support team if you need to know how to access your respective user IDs on page.
